In Nigeria, vaccinations for children under five are free. Doctors have a list of the types of vaccine and what age the child should be when they get the vaccine. A parent should also have a vaccine card for each child. This is because some vaccines only need to be given once. Other vaccines need to be given several times or a person will not be protected. Having a card helps the doctor know what vaccines a person is missing, and which they already have.
